Everyday Life · Question 5IN PROGRESS
Can I be who I am without being punished?
Civil liberties, voting access, religious freedom, and discrimination protections — by race, gender, LGBTQ+, religion, and immigration status.
WHERE THIS STANDS
This is the most emotionally important and most differentiated section — and the one we'll build most carefully. Every claim will be split into what we can prove vs. what we suspect.
WHAT WE'RE BUILDING HERE
Voting access changes (voter ID, polling closures, early voting)
Source: Brennan Center, DOJ
Civil rights enforcement (DOJ Civil Rights Division activity)
Source: DOJ
Hate crime statistics by target group
Source: FBI UCR
Marriage equality & LGBTQ+ protections timeline
Source: Federal legislation / courts
Immigration policy impacts on documented / undocumented families
Source: DHS, Census
Religious freedom — both free exercise AND church/state separation
Source: Courts, present both sides factually
PLANNED DEMOGRAPHIC DRILL-DOWN
Where the federal data supports it, every metric here will break down by race/ethnicity, gender, income quintile, age, education, and geography — and where a breakdown isn't available, we'll say so out loud rather than hide the gap.
Rights data is the hardest to keep unbiased. The rule here is strict: prove it or flag it, and present religious freedom from both directions.
